    Waiting!
Nate had taken many muggle airplanes during the course of his life, and endured many flying-related circumstances – but to him no ride had ever been as hectic, loud and daunting as this one. Maybe it was the chaos of having more than seventy minor students compressed within the same two hundred feet, or maybe the heavy wind streams swinging the aircraft were just too much to handle for some of them. Nathan was simply exhausted: he had undergone nearly three hours of that uncomfortable chair, paired with the general noise made by his mates, to which was added the annoying bickering between Lavanda Goldstein and Jenny Black – who were, due to an unfortunate twist of fate, sitting right behind him. He sighed, looking out into the confusing black void that was the view at this point. Back in London, he had fought (pretty dirty, one might have added) with his friends for that window seat, without even realizing that by the time of their arrival in Bucarest, it would have been pretty dark outside to see anything. His watch read eleven pm, so this meant that, if lucky, they would get to their rooms in the hotel by midnight-ish.
The plane shifted, suddenly. He could hear someone from the back of the aisle already beginning to scream and panick, probably not used to any kind of turbulence. There was a part of Nate that didn’t blame them: after all, that ride was, in fact, very much shaky and unstable, and many of the passengers’ faces were covered by this weird look of dismay. Still, he was more annoyed by the general chaos than concerned.
He felt that, at fifteen years old, he couldn’t let himself get scared. And, if he ever did, he certainly couldn’t show any sign of it happening. He ought to be ice, always. He was basically an adult, now: he was part of the Clavis Aurea, his house elf had started to call him “Sir” rather than “young master”, and that summer he and his friends had smoked for the first time his father’s cigars. At that age, he genuinely thought that he had learned from life all that there was to know, and this was the time when that annoying know-it-all glance started to appear in his green eyes.
Ultimately, they all were like this, the Clavis’ boys: pretending to be all grown-up, but being nothing more than naïve kids, having stupid teenage crushes on girls and fighting for the stupidest things, such as a window seat on a plane.
So they were not scared by the turbulences. They kept chit-chatting and laughing and pretending like nothing was happening, even when a sudden shake of the aircraft would shut them all up for a second; even when they could spy, at the corner of their eyes, the fists of their grown-up teachers clenching around the arm-rests, in sign of clear discomfort. They knew they would have to be better than that.
« Hey, look outside! » said Nate at one point, with a high-pitched voice that anticipated his wonder, waking a drowsy Fitz by his side. « C’mon, stop being
an old nan and check out this view! »
he exhorted, pushing the shoulder of his friend. The plane must had lost height, and the first little dots of lights were finally showing from afar, glowing vividly into the night. « That's the city » Many of their little heads were now stuck to the window to take even a small glimpse of their destination.
« Finally » a voice sighed from behind, clearly tired of all that wobbling and shaking they had to endure during the flight.
In what seemed like an instant, they touched the ground. Those little bright dots started getting bigger and bigger, until they became buildings, and cars and stores. All the kids were in awe. Not because it was a spectacular view – not at all: it was just a city, much smaller than London, seen from above at night. Their excitement was probably due to the fact that they were starting to realize of being away from home, the first time alone without their parents, at the beginning of an experience that they would have made sure to be unforgettable. The electricity within that plane was pure anticipation of the days to come.
« So… have you got it? » Nate asked Tom, who had promised to provide them all with the best weed he could find. He then caught the eye of Judah, Fitzwilliam and Greg. They had been smoking since a few weeks earlier, and taking it to the school trip seemed to them like such a transgression – so Clavis style. They all smirked looking at each other when talking about it. « It better be good – like last week’s one. Remember how rad it was? » They then made plans of rolling up a joint as soon as they arrived at the hotel, careful of not being heard by the teachers walking by in the meantime.
Once outside the airport, all weighed down by their bags and suitcases, they got to the big Knight Bus that was lined up in the parking lot. « So » started the Potions’ teacher, boarding the bus and glancing rapidly at his watch « Thanks to the fast ride, we should arrive at the hotel in no time. » And he was right. It would be a very bumpy but incredibly quick ride. « And after the check-in I want you all in your beds as quickly as you can. Tomorrow is a day full of activities, so no wasting time nor playing around. Have I made myself clear? » The students all nodded at once, but you could already hear a few giggles coming from the back. As if.

    [spoiler_tag][/spoiler_tag]Eccoci!
